KB2871389 for x86 ( 32bit) http:--download.microsoft.com-download-0-C-6-0C67F34D-1F09-429D-B55E-62-Windows8-RT-KB2871389-x86.msu If this video has been useful please press like and subscribe to my YouTube channel. (September 12, 2013) Microsoft has released KB2871389. This KB enables you to update Windows 8 or Windows RT when Windows 8.1 and Windows 8.1 RT are available from the Windows Store. This update fixes some issues that occur in Windows 8 Enterprise, Windows Server 2012, and volume licensed installations.
I had similar problems when upgrading from Windows 8 64 bit. Installed fell into error code. So I chose a clean install of Win 8 and right after installing I chose to upgrade to 8.1 64 bit pro.
Windows works well, and the response speed is amazing, and I have a SSD (OCZ Agility 4 256 gigabytes) Device Manager recognizes all devices, but no one, I refer to the installation-Intel_C600_MEI_NULL_HECI_VER1232002. So I tried to install but the installation was finished because I already have installed on your system. Recent so I do not know. We encourage all clean install of Win 8 and then upgrade to 8.1. Because windows 8.1 no service pack but new windows, although it does not seem so. I know of a clean install is not exactly the easiest solution, but it's best. Best way is to do a full clean install of windows 8 pro but dont do any updates or install anything els just yet.
When you have windows 8 running go in windows update and just get the KB 2871389 update. After it has done restart your pc then go to the windows store and get the update for windows 8.1. After that is all done then start on the drivers you need for you mobo and gpu. The The Management Engine Interface and IRST driver will go on now aswell and work. Think thats the drivers i used. Y+(Intel%C2%AE+RST) after that do the windows update.
Then your all good to go. If like me you flashed your ssd to do the clean install you will have to chat with Microsoft for them to redo you windows key so keep that in mined. Cx-ray, I had to call tech support on that one.

They Do have a command prompt work around that will do a back up image. I suspect there will a fix out on windows update this week for it. Also software like Hitman Pro will bork your start button's Admin Menu. So test it from time to time as you ass software to make sure it's still functional.
Yeah, I think most people should hold off for a couple of weeks. There's another widespread bug that affects mouse movement in games: Also, in case you use the Steelseries Engine, upgrading or installing the current version will render your OS non-bootable:) I have had 2 issues.
One is due to Creative not working with Windows 8.1. The other is on my RIVG after upgrading to Win 8.1 I have a watermark on screen saying Secure Boot not setup correctly of something like that.
You should be able to fix the watermark by enabling Secure Boot in the UEFI/BIOS. It's under the Boot tab. Don't upgrade just yet if you rely on System Image Backup. I think it's pretty much broken on all systems upgraded from the Windows Store. In the 8.1 preview it worked. Something must have changed relatively shortly before the public release. Faced that issue, But solved it by repartitioning the disk manually, and assigning 995 mb for the Windows RE partition and kept the other (System, MSR) the same as default.
Installed Windows 8 from scratch and done upgrade later. Now, Windows Recovery (disk imaging) works perfectly. The only thing need attention as you need to create a recovery Drive/Disk based on Windows 8.1 as Windows 8 won't work with it. My system is as follows, Asus Rampage Gene IV, 3930k @ 4.5 ghz (Stable), 16gb Corsair vengeance 1600, 2x EVGA 570 HD, H80i Had Trouble Upgrading to 8.1, crashed on reboot every time, tried to use boot tools, always got drive locked please unlock drive and try again. I tried a few different things first, but eventually I took out all disks(5) except main boot drive Samsung 840 SSD, and it upgraded successfully, except when I try to put back in all except a specific Samsung 2.5 hhds it crashes at startup, irql_not_less_or_equal, this includes a Samsung 830 ssd, two small 2.5' hhds, and a 3.5 hhd.
I tried them in the same connection as the working hard drive to no avail, windows claims the drivers are up to date. Intel controller drive is be up to date too, used chkdisk, reformatted two of the hhds and reconnected with no difference.
I think im going to have to try clean install of 8 then upgrade again, as im using upgrade version, unless anyone has any ideas? Just found another pesky configuration 'error' in 8.1. Apparently, kernel debugging mode was enabled by default. I noticed constant writing to my OS drive at a rate of 300-400KB/s during music and video playback. You can test it for yourself by looking in the Resource Monitor. If you're affected there will be a constant writing to software.log1 or software.log2 during media playbacks. To solve the issue: Disable Secure Boot (if it applies) Open an elevated command prompt and type: bcdedit /debug off Hit return and reboot Enable Secure Boot again (if it applies).
