I'm one of the many people who decided not to go with Vista, but now I come to the beta of Windows 7, which just about has me convinced this will be the time to upgrade from XP Pro, I have been unable to find an answer to this question: How do I change the output for midi files from the speakers to my midi keyboard? Office access 2007 portable hot dog. I have installed the Vista drivers for my RomI/O usb interface to my Casio CTK=731 keyboard and the device manager says all is well.
Casio's CTK-6200 is from the family of Portable Keyboards. The mixer can be used in conjunction with instrument input feature. This allows Casio Portable digital pianos to be used with Mac or Windows computers without the need for downloading drivers. Class Compliant USB MIDI also allows Portable digital pianos to be used as a controller.
But I can't see where I tell Win7 to output to the USB device! I have to be overlooking something simple, but a technet search and a google search for how to do it in Vista have failed to find anything useful.
An answer by Sunday night would be useful as I have to tell the couple of hundred members of a local computer group on Monday about my first experiences with Win7 and we are quite a few hours ahead of the US here in Australia. Gordon Woolf. Hello You can redirect sound output by setting output device in media player you use or by setting default windows sound output device.
I do not know options that offer player you use but in WMP12 you can set sound output to device you want 1. Open WMP12 options - if on now playing screen open list then click most right icon, then more options - If on library screen right click on toolbar then, tools -> options 2.
Click devices tab 3. Double click speaker item from list to open speaker properties 4. Select your Casio keyboard In this way WMP12 will play on casio keyboard, and all other players and windows sounds will play via default windows device If you want all sounds played to be send to casio keyboard, change default windows sound output device 1. Go here: Control Panel Hardware and Sound 2.
Click Sound 3. From playback tab click casio keyboard device 4. Click set default button. I remember reading an article maybe a few years ago that said MIDI support was being removed from future versions of windows. It said that legacy devices and drivers such as MPU-401 would not be supported under windows by default. So has MIDI in general been declared as *legacy*??? As soon as I read that I knew a lot of people would go through the stages of confusion, denial and then anger after realizing Microsoft's mistake. It is outrageous to declare an essential part of business as legacy and remove it when so many people still rely on it.
