This is just a small write-up of the different phone models for the Z3 and Z3 compact, and their compatibility with the US carriers. D6603 (xperia z3) and D5803 (xperia z3 compact): This is pretty much the version you want for the US.

It has support for most of T-Mobile (LTE bands 2 and 4) and most of AT&T's network (LTE bands 2, 4, and 17). It has coverage for Verizon's 4G LTE network (LTE bands 3 and 14), but won't work on it's CDMA network. D6633 and D6643 (both xperia z3 models): These models have identical band support, their difference being that the D6643 has a single sim card slot, and the D6633 is a dual-sim. They have the same band coverage as the D6603 except for band 13, which is only used by Verizon in the US. D6653 (xperia z3) and D5833 (xperia z3 compact): These two won't work on any of the US carriers.

They are the FD-LTE and TD-LTE compatible phones, and are probably for the chinese market. D6616 (xperia z3): This is the T-Mobile version of the Xperia Z3. It has full support for the T-Mobile LTE bands (2, 4, and 12), and will partially work on AT&T, although it is missing AT&T's LTE band 17.

Support by Network AT&T: Xperia Z3 models D6603, D6633, and D6643 and Xperia Z3 Compact model D5803 will work just fine. Gremaud They don't have support for band 12, but that is mostly just used by AT&T to help with smaller carriers that they provide coverage to.

I wouldn't recommend the D6616 model, as I believe band 17 is used considerably in the AT&T network (If anyone can prove or disprove this, please do so in the comments below). T-Mobile: You can wait for the Xperia Z3 D6616, which will assuredly have a locked bootloader and possibly be harder to root than the other models, as well as not being up for pre-order yet on T-Mobile's site. You can also use the Xperia Z3 D6603, D6633, and D6643 as well as the Xperia Z3 compact D5803, but none of them have support for band 12, and I'm not sure how much of their network requires it.

This is the band that T-Mobile acquired from Verizon earlier this year, so you'd probably be fine (the xperia z1s doesn't have support for band 12. Actually, it doesn't even have support for band 2) Verizon: While the Xperia Z3 D6603 and Xperia Z3 compact D5803 have support for Verizon's LTE bands, they don't support their CDMA bands. Sprint: Not supported at all TL;DR: If you want an xperia device in the US, get the XXX03 model (D6603 for Xperia Z3, D5803 for Xperia Z3 compact) and use either AT&T or T-Mobile as your main carrier.
